SFTE Supports ITPS Symposium
The 2025 ITPS symposium was held on December 11-12 in London, Ontario, Canada. Attendees had the opportunity to meet expert and novice flight testers and gain insights on a wide range of flight test topics. SFTE was well represented. Attendees included President Jeff Canclini, Treasurer Ken Katz, Director Chaska Moon, former Director Bob Brock, AV Chapter President James Sergeant, and Canadian Chapter President Andre Celere, who served as judges, presenters, and panelists. Jeff Canclini updated attendees on SFTE's
Recommended Practices Program. Ken Katz offered a case study for CAST/STPS use. ITPS Master of Science graduate and newest SFTE member, Makenna Kuzyk, was awarded the best presentation for her flight test thesis research on "Acoustic Detection of Vortex Ring States. Michael Mulquiney's presentation, "To Test is the Answer", called upon SFTE and SETP to take the lead to promote flight tester standards, especially in the UAS space. The panel discussion included the impact of AI, and the viability of "better, cheaper, faster" in flight test. The week culminated with a gala celebration for the new graduates. The symposium presentations and panel discussion will be available for viewing in the SFTE video archives in early 2026.
