SFTE President Visits Boom Supersonic to Present JSM Award
SFTE President Jeff Canclini visited Boom Supersonic headquarters in Centennial, Colorado, where he presented the James S. McDonnell Team Award to the XB-1 flight test team in recognition of their outstanding achievement in flight test engineering.The visit included a discussion with Boom Founder and CEO Blake Scholl, who shared the story behind Boom’s founding and the vision driving the development of next-generation supersonic transport.
During the visit, XB-1 Test Director and current Head of Engine Programs Nick Sheryka provided a tour of the XB-1 demonstrator aircraft, offering insight into the engineering and flight-test effort supporting Boom’s supersonic program.
The trip concluded with an SFTE Rocky Mountain Chapter social, hosted by Chapter President Eric D’Anna, bringing together local members and flight-test professionals for an evening of discussion and networking.
The visit highlighted the strong connection between SFTE and organizations advancing modern flight-test innovation, and the vital role of the flight-test engineering community in enabling the next generation of aerospace systems.
